Delmarva Pride Center Year in Review and Talbot Chapter Separation from Central on Social Media

As we look back on this past year, we are incredibly proud of how much Delmarva Pride has grown. What started as a small, passionate group has expanded into a stronger, more connected community across the region. We’ve seen increased attendance at events, deeper community involvement, and more voices stepping up to support LGBTQ+ visibility, safety, and joy on the Delmarva Peninsula. None of this would be possible without our volunteers, organizers, partners, and community members. Your support, dedication, and love continue to shape what Delmarva Pride stands for. Thank you for being part of this journey, we’re just getting started.

As Delmarva Pride continues to grow, we want to make sure our online spaces are clear, accessible, and easy to navigate. Currently, the Talbot County chapter and Delmarva Pride Central are operating on the same Facebook page, which can sometimes be confusing. To better serve our community, we have created a Talbot County Chapter Facebook and Instagram pages.

    Moving forward:

Talbot County Chapter social media pages will focus on Talbot-specific events, meetings, and local updates.

Delmarva Pride central social media pages will serve as the hub for reposting all chapter events across the region, as well as sharing press releases, announcements, and other important news.

This change will help us stay organized while making it easier for everyone to find the information that matters most to them. We appreciate your continued support as we take this next step forward.

Delmarva Pride Center Announces Its New Physical Location and Grand Opening

Delmarva Pride Center is pleased to announce that it has chosen a physical location to support the LGBTQ+ community and its allies. Since 2021, Delmarva Pride Center has been dedicated to creating a positive environment where underserved members of the LGBTQ+ community and its allies can be welcomed as their authentic selves and connect with others. The Board of Directors is thrilled to achieve this goal after two years of successful programs and Pride events throughout the region.

Thanks to the unwavering and continued support from volunteers, donors, and partners, Delmarva Pride Center is able to officially open the doors to a space where people of all orientations and expressions can gather together. Donors, members, and volunteers allow the organization to keep the lights on and expand resources that the Delmarva LGBTQ+ community needs. Examples of future activities include hosting events and meetings, support groups, educational opportunities, and regular open hours with access to a mini-library of books and games.

Board Chair and co-founder Kyle O'Donnell reflects on Delmarva Pride Center’s journey so far. "Over the past two years, it has been exciting to see our events, groups, and volunteers grow. People want to connect and feel a sense of community and belonging. We are glad to offer LGBTQ+ folks a physical space for community and belonging year round."

The new space is centrally located in Easton to serve individuals and families in communities throughout Maryland’s Eastern Shore. It is being rented from the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship at Easton, an organization who is supportive and inclusive of community members of all backgrounds, orientations, and identities. For years, the fellowship has flown the pride flag beside US 50 Ocean Gateway, standing as a welcoming beacon of kind people.

“We have been fortunate to build relationships and work hand-in-hand with other organizations since our founding. Now, we are eager to offer this new location to the existing network of resources and support in the region,” says Concetta Gibson, Delmarva Pride Center Vice Chair.

The Delmarva Pride Center Board of Directors invites community members of all backgrounds to join the ribbon cutting and opening celebration on National Coming Out Day, Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at the new physical location. Doors open at 5pm for short tours and refreshments, with ribbon cutting ceremony and remarks starting at 6pm.

Physical location: 7401 Ocean Gateway, Easton, MD 21601

Mailing address: PO Box 1478, Easton, MD 21601

None of Delmarva Pride Center’s activities are possible without continued support from donors, volunteers, and members. Anyone interested in supporting the center financially or by volunteering can reach out to support@delmarvapridecenter.com.
